Which Vape Tank is Best for You? Mouth To Lung VS Sub OHM VS RDA/RTA

Deciding which vape tank is best for you and your needs can be quite a daunting process. Vaping is becoming more and more popular, but if you don’t know whether to go with Sub OHM, Mouth To Lung or RDA/RTA, you won’t get your desired vaping experience.

Follow our extensive guide on finding which vape tank is best for you and to give you a vaping experience you’ll never forget. Whether you’re just starting out, or you’re looking to scoot your clouds to the next level, you can take something away from this guide.

What is a vape tank?

A vape tank is a vaping device that contains vape juice and an atomizer. It connects to a device or mod to create vapor. Vape tanks are made up of 6 components.

Top Cap – allows the vaper to access the tank for quicker refills. Typically they use a removable cap, rotating cap or a sliding cap for this process.

Tube – is the piece of glass or metal tank, which contains the vape juice mix.

Chimney – is the part that connects the top cap to the base, where the vapor is pulled through the drip tip (see next).

Drip Tip – is simply the mouthpiece that you take a drag of the vape from. Drip tips come in a wide variety of shapes and sizes.

Atomizer / Coil – contains the heating coil and wick. The coil is critical as the level of resistance determines how much power is drawn from the battery and how much heat is generated. If your vape tank releases a burnt taste, it might be time to get a new coil.

Tank Base – houses the atomizer/coil, and securely holds the tube in place which contains the vape juice.

Sub OHM Tank

The Sub OHM tank is a tank that allows a unique style of vaping which produces large clouds of vapor. This type of tank utilises low resistance coils that are less than 1 OHM, hence the name.

They provide airflow that is suitable for direct lung inhalation. It typically requires a vape mod, that is capable of outputting a minimum of 40 watts, however, the higher levels can exceed 200 watts.

Sub OHM tanks are known to be dominant tank of them all, as they’re perfect for beginner vapers. Although, Sub OHM tanks are still used diversely throughout all levels and styles of vaping.

Mouth To Lung Tanks

The mouth to lung tanks are very popular for those whom are giving up smoking, as it gives the same experience of smoking a normal cigarette. The MTL tanks refers to inhaling the vapor into your mouth before letting it hit your lungs.

This type of tank use a high OHM coil, as it’s best to keep the vape at the correct temperature, to enable them to produce maximum flavour. With MTL tanks, it’s best for high nicotine strengths as it leaves the ultimate nicotine taste in your mouth after inhalation.

If you’re looking to produce larger clouds, this tank isn’t the best as most of the vapor is diluted before being inhaled through the lungs due to the saliva in your mouth.

RDA & RTA Tanks

The RDA and RTA tanks are best for building your own coils. As mentioned earlier, building your own coils allows you to customise your vaping experience by controlling the size of your vapor clouds.

A Rebuildable Drip Atomizer (RDA), offers a large atomizer deck that allows the installation of self-built coils easier. They do not typically have a reservoir of vape juice to keep the wick saturated, instead, you drip your juice directly onto the coil as and when needed.

A Rebuildable Tank Atomizer (RTA), is similar to the RDA tank, however this is more like a vape tank as the vape juice will need to be inserted into the glass tank, as opposed to the coil.

Conclusion: Which vape tank is best for you?

So after having an information overload, you’re wondering which vape tank is best for you. It balls down to what level of vaper you are and the size of the clouds you would like to produce.

For a larger cloud, a Sub OHM, RDA or RTA is best for you. Or if you’re trying to get the closest experience to smoking, then a Mouth To Lung is perfect. To build your own coils and personalise your cloud size, use an RDA or RTA tank.
